I want to start off with apologizing for bringing up more complications with ultralight armor. After looking through threads and videos, I have yet to find a definitive answer to exactly how thick ultralight should be. I do realize that thickness will differ between each season and what type of armor it is worn under, if any. So what thickness, styles, and materials are we looking for in each scenario.

I'll be honest, this is probably a very difficult question to answer, it could almost be like a "How long is a piece of string"
You make the Gambeson/Aketon as thick as it needs to be? I have seen Gambesons as thin as 1cm (10mm/0.394inches) and some as thick as 3cm! (30mm/1.181inches)
As for material, the same again - I have seen Woolen/Cotton/Polyester (Which is sadly more common now) and traditional Linen,
The filling or inner lining made with various materials from layered Wool/Material to this Recycles Material Lining...
THEN I have seen people take Blankets and woven them to look ever the exact replica of a proper Gambeson, that you couldn't tell them apart.

I know it's not quite an answer, but there's my few thoughts on it.

My reasoning for this question is twofold. First, as an elder at my chapter, I'm really wanting to know where the typical cutoffs are for when I need to make such calls. Secondly, I'm making a homemade samurai kimono which I'm padding to ultralight standards.
