Rachel bolts upright, heaving for breath . Her mind spinning after her night terror..Looking around, she breathes a sigh of relief. Julian is curled up at her feet, Ari and the new, yet unnamed owl perch in the window. The ever-steady Epona stands guard out front. They all have the opalescent shimmer around them, indicating they had done all possible to protect her through the night.

She gets up and answers .

Come in, Brother, I feel lost and weak

"Good morning," Artenen greeted warmly, his eyes scanning the room briefly, noticing the familiar presence of Rachel's beasts situated at various points in the room. The presence of the beasts seemed to offer a serene atmosphere, their graceful postures radiating calmness and security.

A pleasant aroma wafted through the cool morning air, catching Artenen's attention. He recalled a quaint bakery situated around the town square, a place he had noticed earlier while exploring the small town.

"How about we head to the bakery I spotted near the town square? It seems like a nice place to have breakfast," he suggested, offering Rachel a kind and inviting gesture to start their day on a pleasant note. The suggestion bore a hint of normalcy, a small step towards healing, acknowledging the need for them to nurture not only their physical strengths but also the bonds that had been frayed due to recent harrowing events. It was a simple invitation, yet carried the weight of their shared experiences, a silent promise to look out for each other and forge ahead, one small step at a time.

After enjoying a restful night, Rachel and Artenen ventured to the heart of the village where a small bakery was nestled among cobblestone streets. The bakery was owned by a funny and diminutive man who had an innate ability to lift the spirits of everyone he encountered. With a heart as warm as the freshly baked pastries he served, he made them laugh, easing the heaviness that lingered in their hearts from the previous day's tragic events.

They sat at a rustic wooden table, savoring the flaky pastries accompanied by refreshing beverages; vibrant orange juice, crisp water, and creamy goat's milk which brought a comforting start to their day. The laughter echoed in the bakery, as stories were exchanged and the jovial baker shared tales from the village’s history, momentarily allowing them to forget the pains of their journey.

With their spirits lifted and stomachs filled, Rachel and Artenen thanked the baker and ventured out to explore the natural beauty that surrounded Dorian Cove. They came upon a lush bamboo grove, a tranquil oasis that whispered secrets through the rustling leaves. The path through the grove led them to the discovery of a majestic waterfall, its waters cascading from a height, singing a melodious tune as it met the rocks below.

Behind the curtain of the water, they found a hidden cave. The two adventurers, still fueled by the morning's joyful encounter at the bakery, decided to explore its depths. The cave’s interior was surprisingly warm, and a gentle glow from an unknown source lit their path, creating a magical atmosphere that invoked a sense of wonder and awe.

As they delved deeper, they found that the cave was not just a natural formation but held signs of ancient habitation. Wall paintings depicted scenes of harmony between the land and sea, the primitive art bearing witness to a long-lost civilization that once thrived in the region.

Intrigued by the mystical aura that pervaded the cave, Rachel and Artenen felt a growing curiosity urging them to delve deeper into its bowels. The warm glow that illuminated their path seemed to beckon them, encouraging them to uncover the cave's secrets.

As Artenen led the way, carefully navigating through the narrow pathways adorned with intricate carvings from a bygone era, they became aware of a distant but distinct sound that punctuated the solemn silence — a gentle, rhythmic gurgle that echoed through the cave’s winding corridors. The allure of discovery propelled Artenen further, his senses heightened as they moved closer to the source of the sound.

They eventually reached a cavernous chamber where the soft glow became more pronounced, revealing an underground river that flowed serenely, carving its path through the ancient rocks over centuries, perhaps millennia. The river had a mystical quality, its waters reflecting a kaleidoscope of colors from the glowing stones that adorned the cave walls.

Artenen couldn't help but be mesmerized by the sight, the tranquil flow of the water held a hypnotic beauty that seemed to resonate with the silent music of the world. It was as if they had stumbled upon a hidden sanctuary, untouched by time and human tragedy, a place where nature sang in harmonious whispers, offering a quiet respite for weary souls.

Standing there, with the gentle glow enveloping them and the soft murmurs of the river filling the space, it was almost easy to forget the harsh realities of the world above. Artenen shared a look of wonder with Rachel, their eyes reflecting the awe and the quiet understanding that they were witnessing something truly special.

In that secret chamber, where nature performed a silent ballet of light and water, the possibilities seemed endless. The river could hold paths to undiscovered places, tales untold, and adventures yet to be embarked upon. The magical atmosphere seemed to invite exploration, promising wonders and mysteries for those brave enough to embrace the unknown.

"What is that shining by your feet at the rivers edge?" Artenen asked Rachel

*Rachel stooped and lifted the object out of the water. It seemed to be a smal mirror adorned with jewels and a golden star. The energy around it felt warm and inviting.

Her ears droop slightly and her shoulders slump. Though beautiful it is, it is not the prize they so desperately seek. She again looks to Artenen for forgiveness.

"Why do I fail so?!"

Artenen observes her for a moment before speaking, his expression softening. "Rachel, you haven't failed. This journey is filled with trials and unknowns; it's not about failing or succeeding in every moment, it's about moving forward together." He gestured to the mirror, "Besides, we have found something potentially valuable and beautiful. Can you see any markings or inscriptions on it? Maybe it can tell us something about this place or guide us in some way."

Rachel calms herself and begins to focus. Slowly images flow across her mind.

"I don't believe it...

It's a fortune mirror. It reflects that which timehas not yet written."

*Rachel goes on to explain that this elven made Oracle could only be used once every 7 moons and only after fervent praye. She places the object in her spell pouch.*

As they delved deeper into the cave, an increasing brightness began to engulf the surroundings. At first, they attributed it to a trick of the eyes, conditioned to the earlier darkness. But soon, the source of the glow became evident — the walls of the cave were interlaced with intricate patterns of gold veins, an unexpected bounty hidden away in this secluded place.

They stopped, their eyes widening as realization dawned upon them. This was no ordinary cave; it was a golden sanctuary, rich with veins of gold that ran deep into the earth, creating patterns and textures that told tales of ancient, buried riches. A gasp escaped Rachel as she touched the wall, the cold metal feeling oddly warm to her touch.

Artenen, with a sparkle in his eyes that mirrored the golden lines that enveloped them, couldn't help but exclaim, "We're standing in a fortune!" His voice echoed, bouncing off the golden walls, filling the space with a resounding confirmation of their extraordinary discovery.

The pair exchanged looks of exhilaration, hearts pounding in their chests, a mix of excitement and disbelief bubbling within them. Suddenly, the harsh realities of their past and the uncertainties of their future seemed less daunting, overpowered by the gleam of gold that promised untold riches and prosperity.

As they continued their exploration, they could not resist the lure of the golden treasure that surrounded them. Every so often, they would stop to pry a sizable nugget from the wall, their hands shaking slightly with adrenaline and anticipation. They collected the gold, dreams of wealth and freedom growing with each addition to their bounty.

It was as if they were children again, ignited with a spirit of adventure and wonder, a golden light shining in their eyes reflecting the rich discoveries around them. Artenen urged Rachel to keep following the underground river, their steps hastened, driven by a pulsating energy of hope and the intoxicating promise of wealth that awaited them at the end of this golden pathway. They ventured further, hearts light and spirits high, as they journeyed deeper into the cave's golden heart, their path illuminated by the warm glow of the treasure that surrounded them, their spirits buoyed by dreams of the prosperous future that seemed within their grasp.

As they ventured further into the golden veins of the cave, the initial euphoria of the incredible discovery began to dim, giving way to a burgeoning sense of unease that was impossible to shake off. Artenen's earlier feeling of being watched intensified, a prickle at the back of his neck, a shadow dancing just at the periphery of his vision, yet when he turned, there was nothing but the flickering reflections of gold on the wet cave walls.

Rachel could feel it too; a pressing discomfort, a feeling that they were not alone in this golden haven. Her creatures, initially following dutifully, began showing signs of distress. Julian's fur stood on end, a low growl echoing from him, his body tense and ready for danger. Ari and the new owl fluttered anxiously, their keen eyes darting here and there, picking up on the disturbance in the energy surrounding them. Epona displayed an uncharacteristic hesitation, her stoic demeanor giving way to restless movements and nervous snorts.

Even with the incredible fortune that surrounded them, Rachel's beasts refused to venture deeper, pulling back and refusing to follow their mistress's silent beckoning. It became a struggle, a tussle between the desire to move forward towards the promises that lay deeper in the cavern, and the intuitive understanding of her beasts who perceived danger, an impending threat that hung heavily in the air, invisible yet palpable.

Artenen and Rachel exchanged worried glances, the excitement now replaced with a heavy knot of anxiety in their stomachs. The warning signs were all there, and they could no longer ignore the feeling that they were being hunted, that someone or something was tracking their movements through the glowing pathway of gold.

It was a tense, unsettling realization that dimmed the allure of the gold around them, a reminder that fortune often comes with a price. The golden veins, once a symbol of prosperity and wonder, now felt more like a trap, a seductive lure pulling them further into danger with its hypnotic glow.

The eerie sensation, the unseen eyes on them, and the mounting apprehension from Rachel's beasts created a high-strung atmosphere of fear and doubt. Every sound became a potential threat, every shadow a hiding place for dangers unknown. The golden pathway that they had followed in joy was now a nerve-wracking labyrinth, a test of their courage and determination as they faced the unknown perils that lay deeper in the golden abyss. The choices lay heavily before them: to venture further at the risk of unknown dangers or to heed the warnings and retreat, possibly forsaking the golden opportunity that lay before them.

Rachel back-pedals a bit. Her will to move deserting her. Clearly, she isn't ready yet.

Brother....I cannot ...this feeling......

All at once, a shadow from along one of the labyrinth walls darts out. It wraps around her ankles, taking the form of a Serpent with silver scales and emerald eyes.

The creature sinks its fangs into her causing her to go limp.

With hissing laughter, it begins pulling her into the wall!!!

*Julian leaps forward and grips sleeve of Rachel's robe in his teeth, pulling for all he's worth. The others follow his lead, and now for the first time ever, Artenen is able to understand them in common tongue.*

"HELP US!!!"

Artenen's instincts kick in immediately. As Rachel's familiars pull on her robe, he lunges forward, gripping her arm tightly. With a swift and practiced motion, he draws his dagger, its blade glinting even in the dim light of the cave. With a single, precise strike, he severs the head of the serpent. The creature releases its grip, and its form disintegrates into a mere shadow on the wall, fading away as if it had never existed. The immediate danger gone, Artenen helps Rachel to her feet, ensuring she's alright after the harrowing ordeal.

With the echoing hiss of the serpent still ringing in their ears, Artenen takes a moment to collect himself, his chest heaving from the adrenaline. "Rachel," he starts, glancing uneasily at the wall where the serpent-shadow had vanished, "I think we should head back. This place... it's not right."

He then looks at the animals, the realization dawning on him. "I... I could understand them. How is that even possible?" Artenen's confusion and concern are evident, his confidence momentarily shaken by the recent events. They had encountered something deeply unnatural, and the cave's mysteries were proving to be more perilous than they had anticipated.

Rachel smiles warmly and hold up the Key of The Star.

You were always meant to understand them... because of the power of this.and because we are bound at the heart."

"Please embrace it, Brother."

Artenen hesitates for a moment, the weight of everything that had transpired in the cave pressing down on him. He then steps forward, taking a deep breath, and embraces Rachel, allowing the connection between their hearts to solidify even further. The power of the Key of The Star pulses between them, a tangible force of warmth and light. He finally whispers, "Thank you, Sister. For everything."

"Can we head back to town?" Artenen inquires, still a bit shaken from the events in the cave. "I think we've faced enough surprises for one day, and the townsfolk might be wondering about our whereabouts."
