Many times, players can dress up a modern tent to be visually acceptable for Myths & Legends games... it can be a lot easier than most think and overall, it will cost less than a period tent. The main things to remember is to make the canvas waterproof or any rain will mail the tent under it fail and to have enough support to hold such a covering.

    What to use
Most players find that a painters canvas drop cloth works great for covering. You'll want to get at least 10oz canvas as anything less will be hard to sew if you need to reshape it. Painters canvas is reasonable and costs usually between $10-$50 depending on size. You can die this canvas, I've done it to recover my easy-up sides. This also makes a great tablecloth.

Here are some examples of covered modern tent-like things.
